Update - I'm deep in a new novel

It's true - it's been just under three weeks on this project and I've already written around 120 book pages of it. The story has a unique vibe - so unique that I'm reluctant to share the basic premise - but I'm stoked on it and I think other people will be as well. This book is made up of interconnecting short stories with a LOT of characters, and will need editing, but at this rate it should be done by next March. Each story is around 40 book pages, and I have exactly 3 stories. Anyway, I'm very happy with it so far. On the music front, my rap collaboration - me on the beats, the talented Quadroon on the mic - is almost done, and I have around an album of Ectosonics material to put out on the solo front. The history stuff is, however, on pause for now. Much love and I'll be working on this stuff, thanks for reading.

What I'm doing and NOT doing

Well, I ended up posting nothing here since July - but oh well, here's an update. I've got good news and bad, and let's do the bad news first: I'm pretty uninspired on the music front, really. The Quadroon project is near mastering and we put a single out (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaO-nCuGPEg), but that's the only project I've made progress on for months; it may have been unofficial for a while, but I'm essentially taking a break. A little history here: I bought my first turntable in 1999, when I was 14, and made beats using samples from records until 2007 (filling up 10 80-minute minidiscs in the process). In that year I gave away my records, and didn't start to rebuild a library until a cross-country drive in 2011, where I literally bought cheap gear in Kansas City and made beats in the hotel room to scratch the itch. Since 2011 I've made around 10 EPs and 6 albums using records, although this year I switched to using found sound samples...

Two novel updates, a new comic project, and music news

Much news, so click 'read more' or be square! The novel I completed in April, The Detective, is in a static workable draft form - ie I'm waiting to get feedback from a handful of early readers soon before it changes again. I've decided the genre of this project is Meta-Noir; it may be the only project I write to which that applies, but it applies. If you read the introduction you'll get it, but I'm not going to spoil anything, and it's extremely easy to spoil. On the note of The Detective, I had thought for a LONG time that I wasn't going to go for anything other than self-publication with it, but I've changed my mind and will probably seek traditional publication. The wrong editor would gut this piece, however, and releasing it in a form that retains the thing's structure is paramount for me, so that may not work out - but I'm going to give it a shot. Moving on, a while ago I happened to visit a cafe with some ridiculously cool art on ...
