Two novel updates, a new comic project, and music news

The novel I completed in April, The Detective, is in a static workable draft form - ie I'm waiting to get feedback from a handful of early readers soon before it changes again. I've decided the genre of this project is Meta-Noir; it may be the only project I write to which that applies, but it applies. If you read the introduction you'll get it, but I'm not going to spoil anything, and it's extremely easy to spoil.
On the note of The Detective, I had thought for a LONG time that I wasn't going to go for anything other than self-publication with it, but I've changed my mind and will probably seek traditional publication. The wrong editor would gut this piece, however, and releasing it in a form that retains the thing's structure is paramount for me, so that may not work out - but I'm going to give it a shot.
Moving on, a while ago I happened to visit a cafe with some ridiculously cool art on the walls. Well, the artist, Joe Arnes (here's his insta page - https://www.instagram.com/ghost.of.jo/ ) just finished drawing our first comic collaboration, a single issue of a story titled BETA. Let's just say it involves virtual worlds, that no actual humans (or human avatars) appear, and that the art is fucking insane. I'm trying to convince Joe to put it online in some form, so stay tuned - it's far from your average comic art and it's stunning.
Aptly enough we're moving on and leaving BETA behind, hopping the fence onto a project with greener grass. I'm not going to spoil the concept, but it's something like five ideas of mine slammed together put in a setting that will be familiar to all. It will also be a concept in which to experiment with storytelling that doesn't rely on conflict as the driving force, which is something I've wanted to play with for a WHILE.
In music I'm working with Quadroon, a local Santa Cruz MC (here's his soundcloud - https://soundcloud.com/quadroon-music ), on the first full project that will use Ectosonics beats. If you haven't heard that stuff, I used to sample records exclusively and now have branched out into found sound sampling along with the rest of the Ectosonics crew. You can scope that music here - https://soundcloud.com/the-ectosonics - and I'll link to that release when it's complete.
